Good device
I was ready for an update to my Vivofit. I bought my first one in August of 2014 and have upgraded twice. It's been a very reliable device and I enjoy the new features when I get a new device. My eyes are a lot older now and the digits are a little smaller, but I am doing okay with that. I'm not as happy with the charging capacity as it seems I have to plug it in every other day. My original had a regular battery which I missed when I had to upgrade. My Vivosmart 3 and 4 seemed to hold a charge longer than the new one. I am still a fan and advertise the company to all my friends who are in need of a fitness tracker. Keep up the good work.

Very good replacement for the Vivosmart 4
I like the Vivosmart 5 thus far after 2 weeks of use. I had the Vivosmart 4 previously which physically broke apart just at the base of the display. I like that the band is substantially more robust and strong. I love all the new data especially related to sleep. The detail is awesome and helpful to my understanding of my sleep data from day-to-day. I was a little confused that floors were no tracked, but came to believe that I don't really care how many flights of stairs I climb every day. Overall I am very happy with my Vivosmart 5, including the battery life so far. As I continue on my quest to own my health this will be a handy companion and data source.

Good product, poor interface and support
I bought this to track swimming. It works for that. Mostly. When something doesn't work and you try to get help, You get definitions in the manual, not operational guidance. The best way to get help is on the internet. You can do better, Garmin. The phone connected/ disconnected notification is SUPER annoying and a useless battery waster. Multiple attempts to find a way to shut it off have been unsuccessful. There must be a way, because it didn't work that way when I first got it. I. Summary, it has many good and helpful features, but the poor manual and sometimes non-intuitive interface degrades it's usefulness.

Small enough to not bother me while sleeping
Although I own a Garmin Phoenix watch (and all the bicycle-related products: Edge, Tacx trainer, radar, etc), the Phoenix is too big to use while sleeping, as I was trying to gather sleep quality data.
I wanted all my performance trackers to be inside Garmin's platform, so I decided to try the vivosmart 5.
After 5 weeks of use, I can vouch for it, as a comfortable wearable for this use.
Garmin Connect may be a bit confusing and tricky to use when you have several trackers, but it's good to have all my data in one place
5 stars for vivosmart 5
3 stars for Garmin Connect (Garmin, please give it some love)

Nice but not awesome
I got this as a Christmas present. I like it, I've been wearing it every day for about a month. I like the battery life, about 3 days with all sensors ON all the time, it is lightweight and good looking. I don't like that you can't start sleeping manually, the watch does it by itself, I would have loved it if it came with GPS and more face options.
I'm not sure if I would buy it again, but as a present it was genuinely nice. Also, I would have loved it if it were a little smaller, even though I'm a guy with big arms who is used to having big watches (I used to wear a Fenix 5x everyday) and it feels big.

Good but battery and connection distance are short
I bought this mid December. My home is small, and the bluetooth connection doesn't even work through the whole house. The battery definitely doesn't last a full week. Sometimes it lasts longer, and sometimes it's really short - like only a couple days. This is without doing any actual workouts.
I love all the other aspects of it, and I'm still learning about all the capabilities. The size is perfect as I need the narrow design for wrist movement in general and with my work. I previously loved the Vivosmart HR for 7 years. However, something definitely doesn't seem right with the short distance and battery problems.
(I'm currently looking into my warranty to address these issues).

Small improvement over Vivosmart 4
Purchased this about a month ago to replace my Vivosmart 4 because the battery would not stay charged. The Vivosmart 5 upgrade to the charging capability and cable is a much appreciated improvement. My disappointment relates to the rapid draining of my battery. My husband and I both charged our Vivosmart 5’s on a Monday. After doing very similar activities, on Thursday his battery read 63%, mine read 21%. The manual woefully lacks clarity on this, and online support is virtually non-existent, The red sensor is frequently lit; again no insight from the manual as to why nor what to do about it.

Garmin User for 20+ years!
Don't like the Vivosmart5 - just like I didn't like the Vivosmart4 I replaced it with. For me, the screen is till difficult to read even being larger than the 4 iteration. It's also a data hog as the 4 was. Without the ability to logoff the app & cut the data stream to Garmin's app cloud my data use is quadruple what it normally is. I use a Fitbit device comparable to the Vivosmart line & prefer it to the Garmin Vivosmart5. Having said that, my primary exercise smart whatch is still my Garmin Forerunner 75. It's a superb product I plan to upgrade by the end of Summer.
