Rated 4 out of 5 by from good 4 music, bad 4 vids I bought this thinking it was the best of the best, especially compared to my previous Bose headphones. It is great at playing music and sounds excellent. However, when watching videos such as YouTube, movies, shows etc., the audio is not good at all, and the dialogue is muffled while sound effects are too loud. It sounds like the mixing of channels is wrong. This is not an issue with my laptop / phone etc, as videos sound perfect on other headphones. Please fix this with a software update, as it really sucks given these are meant to be one of the very best headphones. I want to enjoy my movie/show-watching sessions with good audio!

It's taken me a while to get used to the controls and the settings in the app but, I think I'm finally getting the hang of using it. I did have a problem that took me a while to fix. The headphones kept pausing over and over again and it was really annoying, until I found the sound settings on the app and realised it was set to pause automatically when I was talking to someone. I was singing along and the headphones thought I was talking to someone and pausing haha. Now I know to turn that feature off when I'm alone and want to sing along. The sound is good and they are comfortable to wear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bluetooth is working well After my MX2 experience's it’s super to have multiple connections at the same time. It’s a shame that the controle software for the MX5 is not very stable, as if there are to many options and movements that is confusing at times. What word to use to activate the ambient sound or when I take of the headphone and it pause the source. When it works it’s fantastic but it doesn’t always work witch is a bit confusing. Then there is the matter of the smaller head band, what can be a bit painful after a few hours and I have to hove it around a lot after some time on my head. In that regard the MX2 was much less painful. Sound and weight is better on the MX5 I must say.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from One issue I strongly hope I compared my XM4 with XM5, noticed that XM5 only have 100% noise cancelling when music is playing, while XM4 doesn’t have this issue, no matter music is playing or not, it gives NC 100%. I’m sure Sony put the new idea on the new NC program in XM5. For this point, I really don’t like it. I hope Sony can change back in the new version update or in the next generation. Beside this, when XM5 is output 100% NC ability, it is the best.

Sound quality is fantastic and the noise cancelling is the best I've experienced, but a couple issues: 1) The ear cup cushion is nice and soft, and when you first put it on it feels great, but after a while compresses down to where the "speakers" presses up against my ears - causing a bit of discomfort. Those with large ears must keep this in mind. It would be nice if the cushions were changeable to allow for larger ears, or ones with grooves to accommodate glasses 2) Voice commands - software set up to work with Alexa - not so much with Siri. My experience so far has been a bit dodgy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from <<<< Sound Leak Sound leak can be heard from a far distance (1-2m)even when it is near 50 in volume. Wasn’t expecting this and I am very disappointed in that area as I will be using these on public transport and do not want others to hear my music. Also noise cancellation is not that good. I can hear a lot around me including cars and other background noise. Overall sound quality is good and the ability to equalise how you want it to is good but the sound leak and noise cancellation does it for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love them! Received these as a birthday gift from my husband and they are the gift that keeps on giving! Not only is the sound quality insanely good, but the noise cancelling feature blocks out the sound of his sports on the TV as well as his talking. Can’t wait to take them for a spin on a long haul flight to block out the sound of chatty passengers and crying babies. Highly recommend! Lots of cool features in addition to the great sound and noise cancelling too, like swiping up/down for volume control and automatic voice activated disabling of the noise cancelling feature. Soooo good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1000XM5 review Best example I can give you is that the council was resurfacing the main road outside my window at 3am with trucks running and bobcats scraping the old surface off just after I receive my XM5 so I put them on with NC and... silence. Could not hear a thing. Because I live in a noisy neighborhood they are primarily used for noise cancelling and they work perfectly for that purpose. Without exaggeration XM5 have save me almost getting arrested because of the disputes with noisy neighbors, now I just slide into silence by putting the XM5 on. Could not ask for better.
