Dual Pixel Intelligent AF is the next-generation auto-focus technology that brings about significant improvements in subject detection and tracking in both photos and videos.
Action Priority AF
The new Action Priority AF can recognise distinctive actions in sports and focus on decisive moments. The camera analyses ball position, joint movements and the presence of multiple subjects via deep learning. Focus is automatically switched to the person who is executing a specific action instantaneously, where previously, it was almost impossible for the photographer to change the AF frame instantly when the action happens within a fraction of a second.
Register People Priority
- The Register People Priority allows the detection and tracking of a specific person persistently by registering their face in advance. This is especially useful when shooting a performance, events and concerts where there could be multiple people in frame.
- This improved version can detect the subject even when the subject faces sideways.
Deep Learning Tracking
- The EOS R5 Mark II features advanced subject detection and tracking for eyes, faces, and heads, even from a distance or when the subject is facing away. Its Deep Learning tracking maintains focus on subjects despite obstructions, making it ideal for sports.
- The camera adapts to changes in posture and lighting, and excels in detecting small subjects. Additionally, its obstacle avoidance algorithm recognises human heads and maintains focus despite obstacles.
Eye Control AF
- For the first time in a 5-series EOS camera, the EOS R5 Mark II features Eye Control AF, allowing you to quickly move the autofocus point based on your eye movements when looking through the viewfinder.
- Utilising an approximately 307,000-pixel line-of-sight sensor, this system lets you shift focus more intuitively between multiple subjects with pinpoint accuracy. Ideal for dynamic scenes with multiple subjects, allowing you to keep precise focus without the delay of manual adjustments.
Low-Light Focusing
The EOS R5 Mark II features impressive low-light focusing capabilities, allowing it to achieve focus even in extremely dim conditions, down to EV-6.5. Great for various scenarios, such as night photography and indoor shooting under minimal light.
Powerful Image Stabilisation
In-Body Image Stabilizer X Optical Image Stabilizer
EOS R5 Mark II has a built-in 5-axis In-body Image stabiliser. That means every lens* you have would get the benefit of steadier video recording, better low-light capabilities and sharper images. When working in tandem with the Optical Image Stabiliser in the lens, you will get an image stabilisation of up to 8.51 stops that is perfect for low-light handheld shooting, super-telephoto and long exposure photography.
In-Body Image Stabilizer X Optical Image Stabilizer X Movie Digital IS
Achieve even steadier video recording while walking or handheld when using Coordinated Control Image Stabilisation, which produces a combined stabilisation effect brought about by the In-body Image Stabiliser, Optical Image Stabiliser, and Movie Digital IS working in tandem.

Dual Card Slots
EOS R5 Mark II doubles your memory capacity with dual card slots that fit one SD card and one CFexpress Type B card. The slots can be used for separate recording of video and photos, main and proxy recording of videos, as well as recording simultaneously as a backup.
Shutter Durability
- The shutter mechanism of the EOS R5 Mark II has an outstanding endurance of approximately 500,000 cycles, so you can fire those burst shots with peace of mind.
- When the power goes off, the shutter curtain can be adjusted to close, keeping dust out. The shutter curtain can be kept open if you want to power up silently, which is great for silent shooting.
High-Precision EVF
- The EOS R5 Mark II inherits the electronic viewfinder (EVF) of approx. 5.76 million dots from the EOS R3 and displays images at approx. 2x brighter than the one in EOS R5. It has 6 levels of brightness adjustment and an anti-fog structure that surpasses the one on the EOS R3.
- You will not miss a shot with blackout-free shooting and high-speed refresh of approximately 120 fps.
High Power Battery
- The new LP-E6P battery features 2130mAh capacity and a high maximum continuous discharge current of 6A. This unleashes high-performance features such as 8K and high frame-rate movie recording in the EOS R5 Mark II.
