Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total upgrade First of all let me say that for the money, in my opinion netgear modems,routers,switches,etc...are the best you can buy.I had a R9000 and it worked great throughout my home and my electronic devices but I have a workshop about 100 ft from my house and I could not get good signal there. I tried moving the router using a signal extender, even buying another router. None really seemed to help, and it being a metal building I knew I had a problem on my hands. Then I got this router and now my problem is solved. I have strong internet in the workshop now, now I can see instruction videos, use the phone and order part's etc...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly good, but 3 points of concern… Solid for the most part. Pulling about 800 mbps down with 1.2 gbps plan through xfinity. Three items of note: 1. This router/firmware does NOT have smart parental controls. Was willing to pay for subscription, but it doesn’t have it. 2. Smart Connect should be offered for guest network. Not ideal that you have to have 3 guest networks if you want all 3 bands available. 3. All of my iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) stay connected to the wifi, but lose internet about once a day. After extensive trouble shooting, realized it’s the bitdefender for armor app. Overall it’s a solid product and will keep armor subscription, but slightly annoying I have to disconnect/reconnect wifi or restart web protection within bitdefender for armor app to get internet to work again. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Literally doubled my wifi speeds Just received today and ran several speed test from different areas of the house before install. I have paid for gig download speeds and only been able to attain half of that at best. After the super fast and easy install via the Nighthawk app, I ran the same tests again. I am now achieving the 1gb download via WiFi and my signal range has literally doubled. This is a game changer modem that looks to be future proof for some time to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game changer!! I upgraded from a Linksys EA9500 router. I checked speeds before I switched over (pay for 1 g service), on the 2.4 channel I was getting 17 mps up, 9 down. On the 5 channel 238 up and 29 down. Once I switched and everything being equal, I went to 87 mps up and 17 down, but on the 5 ghz channel I went to 883 up and 63 down!! So much faster than previous router. Did have some issues with initial setup but Netgear was helpful. The issues resolved themselves once they installed the the beta firmware. Since then I have no issues with router. It was expensive but worth it for those who want a fast router! I would definitely recommend!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful, when it work properly. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is an awesome router, yet my problem is with inconsistency. When the router is working properly and software is update to date it’s great. I have had to return there routers 3 times due to manufacturing errors. Net gear makes good routers when they are good but be sure to get an extended replacement warranty from then or from an outside source to cover it. You’ll probably get a good 2-4 year out of there products but they are the best routers available in my opinion compared to others in terms of style and power and compatibility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Opens Up ISP Full Bandwidth I have been plagued with slow Wi-Fi in my house after my ISP changed the standards that allowed my old Nighthawk to push the bandwidth that it used to. After having one of their Techs come out we verified that everything was running and that I was getting what I was paying for from the modem. I decided to upgrade to the RAXE500. Instantly my devices started pulling an almost 500% improvement from before. This was my first time being able to pull better than the bandwidth that I was paying for my ISP. The management is super easy and very intuitive. I know have superfast speeds, superior control of my network, and improved security. Expensive yes, but well worth the investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good not Great the netgear was pretty easy to set up. However, I got this one to take care of extra traffic with kids and grand kids and because we cut the cable and are now using youtube tv and other streaming services. It has not fixed the youtube tv buffering or slow start we had with our old router (also netgear). so, this is a disappointment. Also, I got this one to improve our outside security cameras, but it seems no better than what we had. In fact are farthest camera has less wifi strength than with old router. I am looking to see if there is a setting that can improve that or do I need an extender(which I was hoping this moel would help us avoid)

Chose this router for the speed and control and are now finding out that the device control isn't working or Netgear is trying to impose their security subscription to access it. We had set a schedule that a particular laptop of our son's couldn't be used during school hours so that we knew he'd use only his Chromebook. Now we're unable to access the device control to remove that schedule or apply any schedule to any device. Attempting to access the "Access Control" causes a refused connection from the router. Trying to get support to resolve this isn't easy either. After your initial 3 months of support, they don't allow access to their support so consumer's, unless they pay for a support contract, are left hung out to dry. I would not recommend this manufacturer due to the potential difficulties that could be experienced and their policies on how they hand them.
