ROG INTELLIGENT COOLING
The cooling solution of the 2026 Strix SCAR 18 is designed to unlock your machine’s peak performance levels every day. We’ve relocated all of the exhaust vents to the rear of the hinge, keeping warm air away from your mousing hand. The sides and bottom of the machine act as an air intake, creating a natural, efficient path for airflow. Air also flows through the keyboard deck, keeping your hands cooler during intense gaming sessions. When pairing an end-to-end vapour chamber with a sandwiched heatsink, Tri-Fan Technology, and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on both the CPU & GPU, while still offering the same calculated excellence you expect from a Strix SCAR machine.
Conductonaut Extreme Liquid Metal
The Strix SCAR 18 features Thermal Grizzly's cutting-edge Conductonaut Extreme, which improves upon the already incredible heat transfer found in standard liquid metals. Compared to traditional thermal pastes, this indium- and gallium-based compound offers 17X higher conductivity. Used exclusively by ROG, this material offers the highest thermal transfer available on a laptop.
We also take extensive measures to ensure reliability. Not only do we plasma clean the CPU die before application for better adhesion, but we've also refined our application process and performed extreme stress testing and validation for longevity. This attention to detail makes the Strix SCAR 1 FFS cooling solution so exceptionally capable.
Ambient Cooling
The SCAR 18 features our most advanced cooling system, capable of handling 320W of total system power in Manual Mode. But this also means that when in low power scenarios, like when browsing the web and watching videos, the SCAR 18 can cool the machine passively with the fans completely disabled. Once you experience a truly silent laptop, it's hard to go back.
0.1mm Ultra-Thin Fins
The Strix SCAR 18's heatsink features ultra-thin 0.1 mm copper fins, with an expanded heatsink surface area of 246,898 mm2, enabling more efficient heat dissipation. The full-width heatsink provides the perfect balance between airflow and density to keep heat dissipation optimal.
CoolZone Keyboard
Extended gaming sessions can heat internal components and make the keyboard warm to the touch. The SCAR 18 boasts the largest airflow cutouts we've ever added to a laptop, which allows the fans to draw in fresh air from above and through the keyboard deck. This keeps your fingers cool during marathon gaming sessions, while also improving overall system airflow.
Dust Filter
The ROG Strix SCAR 18 features a dust filter on its intake vents. Dust and fibres can collect inside the machine, reducing cooling efficiency and causing degraded performance over time. A filter helps keep dust out, allowing the CPU and GPU to breathe easier for years of smooth and stable operation.
Scenario Profiles
Our Silent, Performance, and Turbo modes are just the beginning. Scenario Profiles allow your system to automatically switch between these modes based on the application you're running, alongside other vital system settings. Switch between lighting configurations automatically, disable the Windows key and touchpad during games, and automate to your heart's content. Armoury Crate makes adjustments in an instant to best fit the task at hand.
End-To-End Vapour Chamber
We've used vapour chambers in our high-end ROG machines before, but the component inside the heart of the 2026 Strix SCAR 18 is truly special. We've designed a vapour chamber with different layers to more accurately match the layout of the motherboard, for maximum thermal contact on the CPU and GPU. We also pushed the vapour chamber all the way to the rear of the chassis, sandwiching it between the upper and lower heatsinks to further optimise heat dissipation.
Sandwiched Heatsink
The entire rear portion of the Strix SCAR 18 is dedicated to its full-width heatsink. This sandwiched design uses all available space for the densely packed fins, giving the SCAR 18 ultra- efficient thermal performance without increasing bulk.
Tri-Fan Technology
Our cutting-edge fans direct air through precisely calculated cutouts in the chassis, sending airflow directly towards internal components to keep them cool in all conditions. A third auxiliary fan sends additional heat from the GPU and VRAM directly to the heatsinks, keeping the machine cool during long video renders or gaming sessions.
The SCAR 18's upgraded fans feature up to 84 blades made from advanced LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer), helping to maintain structural rigidity at high speeds. This new fan system increases total airflow by 91 % compared to the previous gen SCAR 18, allowing for extreme cooling and uninterrupted gaming performance.
Your Ultimate Pit Stop
The 2026 Strix SCAR 18 features a patented tool-less design to make upgrades easier than ever, and allows for simple access to the RAM, SSD, and fans and even includes our latest Q-latch system for the SSDs. Like an experienced pit crew, you can remove and replace your SSD and RAM in seconds, having the machine back up and running without missing a lap. A specially designed frame covers the rest of the mainboard to protect the other components, but can easily be removed with a few screws for users who want to tinker further.
