Sharp at every aperture and focal length
Two weeks in and I am yet to find any real annoyances with this lens. So far it is the best every day travel / landscape zoom I have found. Ok the bokeh is not lovely, but at 70mm f4 it is acceptable for most everyday use. Combined with an A7c this is the most versatile lightweight solution out there. Well done Sony.

beautiful sharp and light G lens, (half price GM)
After using the lens I've found it very sharp from F4 all the way to F11. this is perfect for what I bought it for, Landscape & Travel. The lens is very light and small making it perfect for both those types of photography. If you don't mind the high price it is well worth the investment. It's another G lens with GM quality at half the price! look at it this way and you will be happy. This one's a keeper for me.

All in one
If you’re looking for one lens to do it all this is the one. 20mm is perfect for vlogging while also using dynamic stabilisation. 70mm is long enough to get good compression. I bought this lens for travel. there will be no need to remove it. It’s sharp and autofocus is amazing. Super happy with this purchase. If ur worries about f4. i was also considering the 24-70 f2.8 but realistically the difference between bokeh and light is not as great as the difference between f1.8 and f2.8.
So for myself if i really want more depth of field and low light performance then i’d just go with a prime lens.
This lens is also very compact and light. i have no trouble balancing it on my gimbal.

A gem of a lens
I replaced my excellent FE 24-105mm G lens with this new 20-70mm lens as its range is more in keeping for my use in travel, landscape, children, reportage and ad hoc portraiture photography after reading reviews and trying one in my local store. It's Image Quality is fantastic and being more compact and lighter than my 24-105 will be more useful and thus stay attached to my A7iii most of the time. Well done Sony, you have produced a real gem of a lens with this one.

Versatile lens
I am a professional photographer/videographer. Although my work is varied, I specialise in architecture. This is not my go to lens for architecture, that would be Sony's excellent FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM, which is on my camera 95% of the time for these shoots. Inevitably though, there will be situations where I need a longer focal length. This used to be the FE 24-105mm G (also great). I bought this FE 20-70mm F4 G and the FE 70-200mm F4 Macro G II. Now I have a kit that covers 12mm to 200 mm that is great quality, is light and takes up minimal space.
The FE 20-70mm F4 G, when I need to travel light is the perfect single lens to have. It has excellent image quality from 24mm to 70mm and is still good enough from 20mm to 24mm, though I would always choose the FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM in this range, if it were available.
The FE 20-70mm F4 G is compact, weather sealed, has an aperture ring and all of the other features which make Sony's recent lenses the best option for either photography or video.
If you only want to carry one lens and f/4 will cover your needs, this should be at the top of your list.

A Sharp Lens
This is a sharp detailed lens, robust and well made, which is excellent. I have however only given 4 stars due to the excessive distortion wide open 20 - 24 mm
